Amherst Indy Reports Monthly Readership and Content Highlights
The independent news outlet reported that only about one-third of its 105,000-plus monthly visits result in meaningful reader engagement after filtering out bot traffic.
The Amherst Indy reported on its readership and publishing activity in its weekly table of contents, released on July 10, 2026.
The publication's analytics systems were restored after being offline from June 12 through the evening of June 14, according to the report. The Indy now filters out bot traffic from its traffic counts, tallying only visits that result in meaningful engagement such as opening an article or clicking a menu. Over a 30-day period ending with the report, the publication recorded more than 105,000 total visits to its site, though only about one-third represented engaged visits.
In the 30 days prior to the report, the Indy recorded 32,537 engaged page views, down 2,045 from the previous period. The publication counted 13,681 engaged users over that span, a decline of 1,070.
The most-read article in the week prior was "Amherst Forward Calls It Quits," published by Art Keene, followed by regional school committee coverage. The publication's current issue featured articles on the Hampshire College campus zoning study, the Amherst library renovation project, affordable housing cooperatives, and climate change, among other local topics.
